Welcome To the Land of Spices

Zanzibar is part of the Zanzibar Archipelago together with Pemba Island and many other smaller islands. Zanzibar Island offers a laidback beach life, but also a large variety of activities, a colorful culture and a deep history. You can go on a spice tour or explore the amazing coral reefs and swim among tropical reef fish. Zanzibar Island has all the ingredients to make a memorable holiday.

The Cultural Heart: Stone Town

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Stone Town is a labyrinth of narrow alleys, ancient coral-stone buildings, and iconic carved wooden doors.

  • The Sights: Visit the Old Fort, the Anglican Cathedral (built on the site of the former slave market), and the Freddie Mercury Museum (the Queen frontman was born here).
  • The Food: Every evening, Forodhani Gardens transforms into a lively night market where you can try “Zanzibar pizza,” grilled seafood, and sugarcane juice.
  • The Spices: No trip is complete without a Spice Tour. You’ll visit rural plantations to see (and smell) how cloves, nutmeg, vanilla, and cardamom are grown

World-Class Beaches

Nungwi & Kendwa (North)

The most popular spots. These beaches have very little tidal movement, meaning you can swim all day. They are known for vibrant nightlife and luxury resorts.

Paje & Jambiani (Southeast)

A paradise for kitesurfers due to the steady winds. At low tide, the water retreats for hundreds of meters, revealing “seaweed farms” tended by local women.

Matemwe (Northeast)

Quieter and more secluded, perfect for those seeking peace and a view of the Mnemba Atoll.
