Materuni Waterfalls

Materuni is a Chagga village on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, above the town of Moshi. A guided walk through banana and coffee farms and patches of forest leads to the Materuni waterfalls, where you can swim in the cool pool below the falls.

Back in the village, local farming families show how coffee is grown, picked, roasted and ground by hand, and you taste the result. On clear mornings the snow-capped summit of Kilimanjaro rises above the farms.

We include Materuni on our 6-day and 7-day joining safaris, as a gentle first day before the game drives begin.
